Traditional Cookies

Charities – My Charity cookies are salted chocolate chip in flavor. And they are absolutely amazing. If I could only cook one cookie, for me, this would be it. This cookie was named after a dear friend who introduced me to the recipe. Every time I make a batch of these cookies, I remember a sweet Bible Study group in Chapel Hill/Durham that helped me navigate the good and bad of being a new college graduate, a UNC healthcare employee, a wife, and a mother. They became my family. How fitting that Charity means love, because with every ounce of this cookie, there is so much love inside.

Marguerites – On Day 8, God made oatmeal cream pies and it was good ….ok, not quite but I’m sure it was close. “Marguerites” are oatmeal cream pies were named after my dear Grandma Marguerite. When I was a little girl, I would spend Saturdays eating oatmeal cream pies and drinking sweet tea out of jelly jars at my Grandma Marguerite’s house. I never eat one, whether my own or Little Debbie, without thinking of her.

Marthas – This is a new family favorite at my house!! My husband, Ryan, says they are the best cookie I make. My “Marthas” are a snickerdoodle in flavor. These sweet cookies are full of cinnamon sugar and yumminess . Their name is after my other dear Grandma Martha who always kept me laughing. If you didn’t want the truth, don’t ask her. She was a straight shooter, but with lots of smiles along the way. There’s so many funny stories to tell, but there’s not enough space here. Whenever I think of her and her sayings, I always snicker even today so snickerdoodles just had to be hers.
